my friends and neighbors,
is the Christmas Season and all is well with the
world. Most of it, anyway. I am
writing to you to ask for help for a woman I know
who is in serious financial trouble after the
death of her husband. She may lose her home.
Her name is Lily and she is a recent widow who has
full custody of her autistic grandson. Aside
from losing her husband 4 months ago, she
discovered that while she was working at her
barely-above-minimum-wage-job, her husband had
opened and maxed out several credit cards to the
tune of $8672. Social security is held up
because she was a victim of identity theft two
years ago and she has to prove her identity.
She is diligently working to do so, but the time
it is taking is creating serious problems for her
mortgage. In trying to get her bills, credit
cards, and mortgage under control and pay for
electricity and food, she hasnít been able to
pay her mortgage in full, and needs $2670 to bring
her mortgage current.
know itís the Christmas Season and many of us
are tapped out, but hereís the thing- we all
know lots of people. If 27 people would be
kind enough to donate $100, or 54 would donate
$50, or 108 would donate $25, or 216 would donate
$12.50, then we could give this woman and her
grandson a really fabulous Christmas gift- the
gift of a home.
realize itís a lot to ask, but I know the hearts
of my friends and neighbors, and I know you all
have friends and neighbors as well. If you
forward this to them as well, we may be able to
save this ladyís house.
